A campaign event set in the piney woods of Northwest Louisiana replicating the advance of
General Nathaniel P. Banks’ Federal Army during the spring of 1864.
Participants will portray members of General Richard Taylor’s embattled
Confederate Army hastily retreating in the face of the Union onslaught.
Our scenario is lifted from the days preceding the epic Battle of Mansfield when men from both
armies moved in the densely wooded terrain north and west of Natchitoches, Louisiana, an area
often referred to as “a howling wilderness” in diaries and letters.
Veterans of Banks’ Grand Retreat, a similar event held in the spring of 2007, will have an idea
of what to expect. For those who failed to join the ranks earlier, come ready to march, fight, and
perform the duties of a Civil War soldier. Toughness of body and of mind are critical.
Discipline and military deportment are expected.
Check back often and look for updates and announcements.

We look forward to seeing you March 10-14, 2009. |
